What fate awaits professing Christians? 1 John 1:6
1 John 1:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
Questions V 6
If we say what and do what what are we doing?
Who is we?
Who is the fellowship with?
How would you describe a person who claims to have fellowship with Christ and yet walks in darkness?
Could you describe them as a professing Christian?
If a person walks in darkness, are they in fellowship with Christ?
If a person habitually walks in darkness is it possible that they were never saved?
Scripture has some stern warnings for professing Christians:
Matthew 23:28&33 King James Version (KJV)
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity...
33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Where do you stand?
A note of caution: It is not for anyone to decide who is a professing Christian, this is up to God.
Praise the Lord
