Lead Kindly Light of the world. John 8:12.

Christ the Light of the world John 8:12 (KJV) 12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world : he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Comment During these serious days of the coronavirus pandemic, we should remain ever mindful of what we have as Christians. Among many uncountable blessings, we have: Christ the Light of the world, to lead us. God and His Word. Christ and His Spirit. The written teachings of the Apostles. The coming of Christ as our hope. At this time let us therefore "STAND FAST on the great foundational truths of the Gospel and HOLD FAST to all that we have without wavering, without swerve or bend". Indeed it is of paramount importance that day by day we follow the leading of Christ "Our Kindly Light". May we pray with John Henry Newman:  Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom, lead thou me on; the night is dark, and I am far from home;...

Great encouragement from Isaiah 42:4

Great Encouragement Scripture Isaiah 42:4   King James Version (KJV) 4  He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. This means for us "THIS is true of the Lord Jesus in every, work which He undertakes, whether redemption, the salvation of Israel, or the training of the church. He will not fail but will perfect that which He commences to do. He will not be discouraged, but will steadily labour on, until He gains the object upon which He has set His heart." Mrs. Yapp "Old Testament Shadows" p. 81 Reworked Praise the Lord

Words of great comfort during the pandemic.

Words of great comfort for the afflicted Isaiah 54:11-12  King James Version (KJV) 11  O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. 12  And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.   How precious are these verses! They just tell out the deep pity and tender compassion of the Lord towards a sorrowing soul that refuses to be comforted.   It is as if He said:  "Oh, thou afflicted one, do you not know, what I am doing?  Can you not trust Me?  These sorrows shall not hurt you.  I want to make you very lovely, to ornament and   beautify you, to inlay you with precious stones, and to make you a special delight and glory to Myself to all eternity.'' Is not this enough, dear suffering one ?   Will you not trust His wise and loving, tender...

John 1:7 The Testimony of John the Baptist

Scripture John 1:7   King James Version (KJV) 7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. A core message of John 1:7 as expanded by some cross-references John bore witness as to who Jesus was. The Spirit in the form of a dove was prophecized. John witnessed the dove landing on Jesus. John was recognized as a witness. John testified as to what he saw and heard. John testified as to the truth. Core Cross-references John 1:32 KJV Saw the dove landing on Christ And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. John 1:33 KJV The dove was the Spirit And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. J ohn 1:34 KJV J ohn witnessed the confirmation that Jesus was the Son of God ...

John the Baptist- John 1:6

Scripture J ohn 1:6   King James Version (KJV) 6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. (i.e.John the Baptist) Core message amplified by a few cross-references. (The subject of John the Baptist as a man is a huge subject. Here are a few cross-references.) John the Baptist baptized Christ. John made it clear that he was not Christ. John identified Christ as "the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world". Christ praised John the Baptist greatly, saying :"Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist...." John was humble John prepared the way when God came to us. John was a preacher. John called people to repentance John was not afraid to speak the truth to power. Consider what he said to the  Pharisees and Sadducees. Some cross-references John 3:28 KJV Not Christ Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent ...

Why does evil prefer the dark? John1:5

John 1:5   King James Version (KJV) 5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. A possible core message based on some cross-references Evil people do not like the light of Christ shining on their lives as it reveals their evil ways. That is why they prefer darkness - it hides their evil deeds. They think (wrongly) that darkness enables them to escape being found out and being reproved.  The evil man thinks (also wrongly) that evil committed under the cover of darkness will remain hidden. That is why the adulterer "waiteth for twilight" and covers his face, so "no eye shall see me". The bad news for the evil person is that God knows everything and judgment of one sort or another faces everyone. The good news for the evil person is that Christ can save him from this wretched situation. Some cross-references John 3:19 KJ V And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness...

John 1:4 Christ the light of men

Scripture John 1:4   King James Version (KJV) 4  In him was life, and the life was the light of men. Some cross-references to "light" John 5:35 KJV He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light . John 12:36 KJV While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. Rom 2:19 KJV And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, 2Co 6:14 KJV Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Eph 5:8 KJV For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord : walk as children of light: Eph 5:14 KJV Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
