Why does evil prefer the dark? John1:5

Evil people do not like the light of Christ shining on their lives as it reveals their evil ways. That is why they prefer darkness - it hides their evil deeds. They think (wrongly) that darkness enables them to escape being found out and being reproved. 
The evil man thinks (also wrongly) that evil committed under the cover of darkness will remain hidden. That is why the adulterer "waiteth for twilight" and covers his face, so "no eye shall see me".
The bad news for the evil person is that God knows everything and judgment of one sort or another faces everyone.
The good news for the evil person is that Christ can save him from this wretched situation.
