Can we get into Heaven by good works?




Salvation - A Gift Not A Reward

 During this Covid19 time when we have to stay at home there is great opportunity for reflection.

 So let's ask: Can we earn our salvation? Will we able one day to say to God at the gate of heaven? "Look at all my good works I demand that you let me in."

 According to the Bible the answer to both questions is "No".

 Have a look at this Scripture. It is from Paul's letter to the Ephesians.

Ephesians 2:8-9 King James Version (KJV)

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

There it is. Clear as daylight. As we reflect on the Scripture we learn:

  • We are saved by grace.
  • We are saved by faith (trusting in Christ).
  • We cannot save ourselves.
  • Salvation is a gift from God.
  • Works cannot save us - Its no good boasting about works.
