10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Comments and Questions

In 1 Peter 1:10 we read that:
  • The prophets enquired and searched diligently (their own Scriptures).
  • The prophets prophesied that salvation by grace would come.
However, inspiration did not bring with it omniscience - the prophets did not fully understand what they were writing (see Daniel 12:8).

We know now that the prophets were actually pointing to the wonderful undeserved favour that would be bestowed upon us by Christ.

"We may not know what the future holds
but
We know Who holds the future"
